September 2013 Intake

I. 

A. Bachelor of Arts: Anthropology

Entry Requirements

a) K.C.S.E. (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean Grade C+ (C plus) or its equivalent;

b) K.C.S.E. (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean Grade C (C plain) plus a Diploma from an Institution recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.


c) Division II in “O” level certificate (E.A.C.E. or K.C.E.) with three years relevant experience.

d) A-level Certificate of two (2) principal passes (E.A.A.C.E. or K.A.C.E.) or its equivalent from an Institution recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.

e) Degree from the University of Nairobi or from an Institution recognized by the University of Nairobi.

B. Master of Arts: Anthropology

Entry Requirements: 

The common regulations for the Master’s degree in all faculties shall apply.

Thematic Areas of Specialization:

i. Medical Anthropology v. Archaeology and Prehistory

ii. Development Anthropology vi. Anthropology of Children and Childhood

iii. Language, Culture and Society vii. Anthropology of Conservation

iv. Physical Anthropology

II.

A. Bachelor of Arts: Gender and Development Studies – Full Time (Day Programme & Evening)

Entry Requirements:

a) K.C.S.E. (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) Mean Grade of C+ or its equivalent;

b) Division II in “O” level certificate plus three years relevant work experience.

c) A-Level Certificate of two principal passes or its equivalent.

d) Degree or Diploma from a recognized University of other institutions of higher learning.

B. Master of Arts in Gender and Development Studies

Entry Requirements: The common regulations for the Master’s degree in all faculties shall apply.

III. Doctor of Philosophy in Anthropology

The Common Regulations for the Doctor of Philosophy in ALL faculties shall be applicable. The doctoral programme consists of full time or part-time study, research and writing of thesis. 

Candidate shall carry out a programme of original study and research over a minimum of two years on a full-time basis and fours years on a part-time basis.

Application Procedure:

Application forms can be obtained from the University of Nairobi Admissions office Reception (for undergraduates) or Board of Post Graduate studies office( for post graduates) at main campus Gandhi wing upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Kshs 3000 (Bachelor’s and Masters) and Ksh 4,000 (PhD). 

The application fees must be paid in Cash at Barclays Bank Westlands, UNES Application A/C,
A/C No. 073-1023948. CASH AND POSTAL ORDERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Completed application forms with copies of certified degree certificates, transcripts and receipts of application fees attached should be returned by 23rd August 2013.
